Procedure on how to use the Cable Test application

Applies to

MAX-800 series, FTB-800v2 series, FTB-700GV2 series, FTBx-88XX series

Introduction

The Cable Test application is used to diagnose un-shielded twisted pairs (UTP) cables (up to Category 6e/Class E). Cable test can be performed everywhere in the network where an electrical 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet interface is available for testing. Only the pairs used by the Ethernet signal will be tested. For 10BASE-T, and 100BASE-TX, pair 2 and 3 will be tested; for 1000 Base-T, all pairs will be tested. However, if the Ethernet signal is unknown, all four pairs will be tested.
