Importing OLTS results into the EXFO Exchange embedded application

Introduction

This article describes how to import into the EXFO Exchange embedded application, OLTS results from a MaxTester or FTB platform.

Procedure to follow

1. Ensure file extensions on the MaxTester or FTB platform are visible.

Note: This will require file extensions being visible (View > File name extensions) or (View Options... > Hide file extensions) depending on platform.

 

2. Identify the file extension associated with supported OLTS results files to be imported into the Exchange application:

Note: 'Duplex' OLTS results files cannot be exported to JSON and attempting to will return an Export to JSON is not supported for selected file. error message.

2a. If the OLTS results file/s extension is '.jolts', right-click on the file/s, select 'Rename' and change the file extension to '.json'.

      Proceed to step 6.

2b. If the OLTS results file/s extension is '.olts', transfer the results files from the MaxTester or FTB platform to a device running FastReporter3 using an appropriate removeable storage device.

      Proceed to step 3.

 

3. Start FastReporter3 and open the applicable OLTS files.

 

4. Convert the OLTS results files to JSON format:

Note: 'Duplex' OLTS results files cannot be exported to JSON and attempting to will return an Export to JSON is not supported for selected file. error message.

4a. Right-click on the required OLTS file/s.

4b. Select 'Export'.

4c. Select 'Export to JSON' and choose an appropriate device location to save the converted files.

 

5. Transfer the JSON formatted OLTS results files back to the MaxTester or FTB platform using an appropriate removeable storage device.

 

6. Start EXFO Exchange embedded application on the MaxTester or FTB platform and select 'Results' in the side bar.

 

7. Import the JSON formatted OLTS results files into the EXFO Exchange embedded application:

7a. Select the 'Import results' button.

7b. Select the 'Select folder' button.

7c. Choose the appropriate file location.

Note: You cannot import individual files and must select the parent folder.

7d. Select 'OK'.

7e. Ensure an 'Importing results' message is displayed showing the appropriate Workspace, then select 'OK' in the title bar of the message.

 

8. Check that the OLTS results have been imported into the EXFO Exchange embedded application correctly:

8a. Wait until the 'Import in progress...' synchronization message has disappeared from the message bar at the bottom of the EXFO Exchange application window.

8b. Check that you are able to view the imported OLTS results.

      If you have any issues importing OLTS results files, proceed to step 9.

 

9. Troubleshooting importing OLTS results files into the EXFO Exchange embedded application:

9a. Check that the correct import parent file location was selected.

9b. Restart the EXFO Exchange application and reattempt the import procedure.

9c. Log out, restart and then login again to the EXFO Exchange application.

9d. Restart the MaxTester or FTB platform.
