Question
What is the EXFO strategy regarding the end of Windows 10 support in October 2025?
Answer
Thank you for your interest in the operating system compatibility of EXFO FTB & LTB-8 Test Platforms. In August 2023 EXFO has implemented on FTB & LTB-8 Test Platforms the latest Windows 10 enterprise Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC). This version of Windows 10 (LTSC) has an extended support lifecycle (January 2032) specifically designed for systems that require long-term stability and minimal updates. This version is targeted at devices that need to run a stable OS for extended periods, such as industrial systems, medical equipment, ATMs.
After review, considerations, and extensive testing, we have determined that Windows 10 LTSC remains the optimal platform for FTB & LTB-8 Test Platforms.
Here are the key reasons why Windows 10 LTSC best supports our solution:
- Proven Stability and Compatibility: Our system has been thoroughly tested and fine-tuned to run efficiently on Windows 10 LTSC. This OS version provides the stable environment necessary for the critical operations your organization depends on.
- Extended Support and Security: Windows 10 LTSC continues to receive full support from Microsoft, including essential security updates, until January 2032. This allows us to maintain the highest security standards without the need for disruptive system changes.
- Optimized Resource Utilization: Windows 10 LTSC is lightweight and well-suited for the unique requirements of our industry. This version minimizes resource usage, providing a more consistent and predictable experience in specialized environments where performance and uptime are critical.
