Introduction
Here is a short procedure on how to force a firmware update on the USB connected FIP-410B, FIP-420B and FIP-430B probes.
This could be useful in the following situations;
- If the fiber inspection probe is unable to be detected either by the CMAX2 PC application or the CMAX2 Embedded application running on a MAX Optical tester or FTB Platform
- If you experience a "Critical Internal Error" message while using the probe,
- When the probe no longer connects over the USB wired connection to the CMAX2 application.
Procedure to follow
- You can use the already installed ConnectorMax 2 appilication on a computer, or the embedded ConnectorMax 2 application which is installed on the MAX Optical testers and FTB platforms.
- Before continuing, please make sure that the Probe is disconnected from the Computer or tester and ConnectorMax2 application is running.
- Press and hold down the Capture and Magnification control buttons
- Connect the probe to the PC using the USB cable.
- You should see the following message appear on screen.
You can now let go of the two buttons, then select Update to force the firmware update.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not disconnect the probe during the update process.
Once the firmware update is completed the probe will be up and running.
