Problems after or when attempting to upgrade the System Image of a MaxTester device

Problem

When updating the System Image of a MaxTester device, you may very occasionally encounter difficulties and receive an error or exception message during the update process, or experience problems with the device after an update of the System Image has supposedly completed successfully.

The troubleshooting steps in this article may help you to quickly resolve the issue.

Troubleshooting steps

Note: Before attempting any System Image updates or troubleshooting, you should make a note of the System Image version currently installed on the MaxTester device.

 

Possible Cause 1: USB port of the MaxTester is faulty.

Proposed Solution

• Attempt to repeat the System Image update using a different USB port on the MaxTester device.
• Attempt to repeat the System Image update after performing a hardware reset of the MaxTester device by holding the power button for 12 seconds.



Possible Cause 2: Removable USB media is faulty.

Proposed Solution

• Attempt to repeat the System Image update after reformatting the USB media being used.
Note: The disk format of the USB media must be FAT, FAT32 or exFAT.

Note: Reformatting the USB media will result in the loss of any currently stored files.
• Attempt to repeat the System Image update using a different removable USB media.

 

Possible Cause 3: System Image being applied is corrupted.

Proposed Solution

• Attempt to repeat the System Image update after downloading a new copy of the optical MaxTester System Image.
• Attempt to repeat the System Image update after downloading and installing a different optical MaxTester System Image.
Note: You may lose some facilities and features when installing an older System Image.

 

Possible Cause 4: System Image present on the MaxTester is corrupted.

Proposed Solution

• Attempt to repeat the System Image update after performing a MaxTester recovery.
• Attempt to repeat the System Image update after first reinstalling the same optical MaxTester System Image version as noted at the start of this section.

 

Possible Cause 5: Storage device of MaxTester is corrupted or faulty.

Proposed Solution

• Return the MaxTester device for repair by requesting an RMA.
