Introduction
The Cable Test application is used to diagnose un-shielded twisted pairs (UTP) cables (up to Category 6e/Class E). Cable test can be performed everywhere in the network where an electrical 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet interface is available for testing. Only the pairs used by the Ethernet signal will be tested. For 10BASE-T, and 100BASE-TX, pair 2 and 3 will be tested; for 1000 Base-T, all pairs will be tested. However, if the Ethernet signal is unknown, all four pairs will be tested.
Follow the Instructions below on how to use the Cable Test application.
Procedure to follow
1. Open Mini Toolbox
2. Enter the Netblazer or Power Blazer app
3. Once the test applications are presented, launch the Cable Test application.
Note: the application may appear on the second page, under Ethernet, Sync, Fiber Channel, Wireless option.
5. In the Test Configurator window, configure the test application, such as Auto-Negotiation, Speed, Cable Mode, Length Unit, pass\fail verdicts, etc.
Important note: You do not need a link-up status to do the test and have the length of the cable.
6. After test completion, the cable summary will be displayed, including a length and wire map. You may generate and save a test report
