Question
What does a functional test RMA service entails?
Answer
A functional test service is a service provided in our facilities where our technician will test the components and working order of the equipment, on a production bench. This includes an examination of the following:
- Proper boot sequence.
- Charging system.
- Touchscreen and interface test.
- Motherboard and electronics components.
- WiFi - Ethernet - Bluetooth functionality.
- USB ports.
- If modules and typical accessories (FIP) are detected
If customer points to a specific software issue, it will be investigated. Otherwise, test applications will be launched to test functionality without further investigation.
At the customer's request, software can be updated.
The functional test service also covers very minor repairs, such as the USB port cover plate or power meter cap.
This service typically requires 10 business days to be performed, which does not include shipping time.
When a functional test service was requested in a RMA, if an issue is found, your RMA CSR will contact you to seek approval for a repair service to fix that issue. If you refuse, we'll only charge you a functional test service, if you accept, we'll only charge you for the repair service.
Following the functional test service, EXFO offers a 3 months warranty on the equipment.
