MOA-3800 won't change IP address through Perle Device Manager

Applies to

MOA-3800

Problem

When using the MOA-3800, it is useful to change the IP address to then use it remotely. This is not possible if the communication with the MOA-3800 cannot be established to first change its IP address or to change it later on if several MOA-3800 have the same IP address.

Troubleshooting steps

After performing the instructions detailed in the user manual at page 12, if the unit still won't connect, you will want to inspect the below items :

Possible error message 1: the software displays waiting for connection for 15 seconds and then displays the below error.

Solution : Inspect your firewall allowed apps in your windows settings. This can be done by opening the control panel and reaching here : ''Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Defender Firewall\Allowed apps'' in windows 11, and its appearance should be similar to this :

Ensure that Public is enabled in these options for Device Manager TFTP Server.

Possible error message 2: the software displays the below error.

Solution : This is characteristic of DHCP/Static mismatch. Ensure that the ethernet port is configured as a static IP address if the MOA-3800 is setup as a Static IP address, and DHCP if the MOA-3800 is as well. In practical terms, if your ethernet port was already Static, switch it to DHCP and if it was in DHCP, switch it to Static. You may proceed with this by:

1. reaching into your network connections options in the control panel,

2. right clicking on the ethernet port used to connect to the MOA-3800,

3. selecting properties,

4. selecting internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4),

5. selecting properties

6:

6a : if you want to select DHCP, select Obtain an IP address automatically.

6b : if you want to select Static, enter an IP address (you could use an IP address similar to the one from your wifi network, so if your IP is 15.22.210.37, you could use 15.22.210.39).

Once you are done, click ok.

After this is complete, test the connection with the Perle device manager again and you should be able to connect.

If you still aren't able to proceed for some reason, you should still be able to use the Perle WebManager if a previous IP address was established on the MOA-3800, see the user manual at page 15 for details.
